Powerful preview of the Oracy Commission’s findings, chaired by darling of #LabourConferece24, Geoff Barton. Discussion of an “oracy movement”, forming pedagogy, embedded across the curriculum transforming learning and lives. Very exciting!

Great new production of Turn of the Screw at English National Opera. Superb singing, the orchestra was devastatingly powerful and the production intensified the psychological power of the show. Loved it!

“Literacy is fundamentally a matter of social justice,” says Jonathan Douglas , the National Literacy Trust CEO, to a room full of stakeholders later in the afternoon, after the children have gone home. Great work happening in Salford with great partners! open.substack.com/pub/themill/p/…

🚨 A new report out today from National Literacy Trust highlights the declining number of young people reading for pleasure. Read our response: eef.li/gnErKJ

“With children and young people’s enjoyment of reading at an all-time low, and high numbers leaving primary and secondary school without the reading skills they need to thrive, the futures of a generation are being put at risk” - Jonathan Douglas

So sad to hear of the death of #BarbaraTaylorBradford OBE, a great ambassador of the National Literacy Trust. I will never forget meeting her being inspired by her personal story. She will be greatly missed by the charity she championed. literacytrust.org.uk/support-us/rem…

Look at all of this excitement! Every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading. We had a great day celebrating a love of books in Middlesbrough with The Royal Family. Our impact in the town: literacytrust.org.uk/communities/mi…

We were on the telly! 📺 Reading for pleasure transforms lives. It was great to celebrate our impact in Middlesbrough with local schools and Her Majesty The Queen (The Royal Family). So proud of these reading champions #GrowAGenerationOfReaders. Watch back: bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…

It was an honour welcome National Literacy Trust’s Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, to Bradford last week to meet our local team and see how we’re brining literacy alive in the city.

A honour to be at the international The Booker Prizes last night, celebrating the win of Banu Mushtaq and translator Deepa Bhasthi, presented by the wonderful (and towering!) Max Porter.

Phenomenal Das Lied von der Erde from ALICE COOTE OBE, David Butt Philip and the wonderful BBC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus.
