We are enjoying taking our book basket home in year 4. We have been reviewing our favourite stories and adding them to our ‘book book’.

This week Reception are exploring The Tiger who came to tea 🐯 🫖 we are role playing in our cafe, creating story maps, exploring Sophie’s bubble bath and learning how to mix orange to create tiger related paintings! JCAEYFS

We performed a poem ‘The monster under the bed’ to parents at our weekly library to celebrate #nationalpoetryday2025

In Year 6, we looked at poems written by black poets to celebrate #nationalpoetryday2025 and #blackhistorymonth2025. The children used their active reading skills to annotate their poem ready to perform and take time to reflect on the meaning of the poem Jerry Clay Academy Reading

Reception’s core text this week is “Oliver’s vegetables” - we have been busy writing shopping lists, making and painting vegetables, playing in grandad’s house and digging up potatoes to count! JCAEYFS

Year 5 used their oracy skills to re-enact a scene from our core text, ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’. They used fantastic expression and emphasis to bring the characters to life.

Following the unveiling of our new English text, year 1 have been creating story maps and acting out parts of the story through drama to develop an understanding of the main characters and vocabulary

Year 3 wrote beautifully descriptive biographies based on inspirational palaeontologist- Mary Anning! They have wowed us with their superb vocabulary and descriptive sentences. JCA Writing #fossils 🐚
