A review into Ofsted's response to the tragic death of Ruth Perry absolutely has to be carried out by someone INDEPENDENT of Ofsted.

Otherwise, it won't have the trust of the profession, nor will we have faith in the process.

A former CHIEF INSPECTOR is simply unacceptable.

Child education and the nursing sectors are two of the most underpaid areas in the public sector.

It’s no coincidence that these are sectors where women are predominantly employed, demonstrating a clear misogyny in successive Tory governments’ pay awards

All educators have known for 14yrs are pay cuts and freezes. Teacher pay has fallen 25% against inflation.

School staff need a fair, fully funded pay rise to start to regain the losses since 2010.

Rochdale shows Labour’s using antisemitism as a political football. The party has used antisemitism to purge the party of the Left, but when their preferred candidate in a by-election uses conspiracy theories, they have to be dragged to action & have still not even suspended him.

PFI was a wheeze to keep spending on capital building projects off the treasury’s books. It tied schools into decades of restrictive and exorbitant ‘maintenance and repair’ costs. Those are becoming ever more unsustainable.

Already a Spurs legend. Men’s mental health is a huge silent issue, and for a big name footballer to speak so openly about their problems and the therapy they are receiving is massive.

We are launching an indicative ballot on the issues of FUNDING and PAY.

Because:
1) Even if teachers get 0% schools will be collectively in £500m deficit
2) The government is lining up the profession for an unfunded, below inflation pay award.

Over a period of years I tried to get ministers to investigate the scandal of the misuse of govt. funds in the Bright Tribe trust run by Mike Dwan. I gave them the govt. a dossier of the allegations made by school staff working in the trust. They were shocking. A 🧵

£79,558 is a simply staggering amount, a huge, life-changing sum that Govt policy has taken from your earnings in the last 12 yrs. Enough is enough.

Govt looks set to back a paltry 1-2% pay rise for this year: if so, the NEU will launch a preliminary ballot on 2 March.

Ofsted are resuming inspections.

There is no evidence to support the notion 'Ofsted raises standards'.

Whilst single word judgements remain, the excessive stress and workload will remain.

Ofsted is a harmful presence in our schools.

We need reform, not re-branding.

Govt looks set to back a paltry 1-2% pay rise for teachers for this year. So, the National Education Union will begin an indicative ballot on 2 March, asking members to back strike action over pay & school funding.

A decent pay rise would go some way to fixing this crisis.

Thank you Beth Winter MP for raising the Government’s attempt to undermine pay review bodies and their contempt for teachers. Ministers are gearing up for a 1-2% pay rise: educators deserve better.

Ofsted needs more than just empathy.

However, it's also worth noting empathy wasn't Oliver's record as a trust CEO. Exclusion and isolation booths were.

A pause in inspection is welcome, but this needs to go beyond mental health training. We don't want the illusion of change or

Beyond the school gates, teachers could be dealing with a host of personal problems – from grief to the joy of getting married. So, how far should these experiences be shared with the pupils you see every day? And how much are you even allowed to share?
