When I stand in spots like this, a diverse young native forest with a rich ground flora rapidly moving in, and remember back to when it was just barren grasses 12 years ago, it truly feels as if I've witnessed a miracle.

I cycled the carlingford greenaway yesterday. Unfortunately the entire length had been sprayed with glyphosate on both sides. I support the expansion and extention of cycle infrastructure but we need to be aware that they often go through environmentally sensitive areas.

Came across some massive old Ash trees - delighted to see them all flowering and still showing plenty of vigour.

In this instance, as the trees mature they'll shade out the bracken and it'll become just another part of the forest flora.

But if the site were heavily grazed, there'd be no trees, just loads of bracken. Bracken dominance is a direct result of overgrazing.

No human artifice can match nature for simple, unassuming beauty. 🌎

What to do about too many deer killing off our native forests?

Eat more venison?
Bring back their natural predators?
