Is NI a failed state? The NHS is in a death spiral and Stormont can’t and won’t fix it. Tomorrow will be another day when I won’t have the tools I need to help my patients. GP work is now close to impossible.

I have become convinced that Stormont does not and cannot work. The de facto mutual veto over contentious decisions means that almost anything important (like health services reform) cannot happen. This is the strongest reason for Irish unity with Stormont abolition.

I'm excited and really pleased to be in conversation today with Mitchel McLaughlin at 1pm today in Verbal Arts Centre, discussing my book 'A New Ireland - A Five Year Review'. My thanks to Derry Feile. A great series of events this year.

Utterly repulsive behaviour. Bonfires in August serve only to mimic the hate of those of July. The sooner Derry rids itself of the bonfire culture, the better.

Pro-unity parties will cooperate, campaign together and advocate common positions during a referendum - even if they’re speaking to different audiences. No one loses their identity and differences don’t evaporate but we all work together to build a new Ireland.

Our board members Colin Harvey & Andrée Murphy are taking part in this conversation in Derry on Friday. A New and United Ireland has never been closer - as conversations continue to grow re planning and preparing for a border poll. All very welcome.

For a government to refuse to plan for the future is utterly reprehensible. What should unite all political perspectives is the principle that people have the right to decide their own future. That’s enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement. We need to start planning now!
