I have become convinced that Stormont does not and cannot work. The de facto mutual veto over contentious decisions means that almost anything important (like health services reform) cannot happen. This is the strongest reason for Irish unity with Stormont abolition.

Pro-unity parties will cooperate, campaign together and advocate common positions during a referendum - even if they’re speaking to different audiences. No one loses their identity and differences don’t evaporate but we all work together to build a new Ireland.

For a government to refuse to plan for the future is utterly reprehensible. What should unite all political perspectives is the principle that people have the right to decide their own future. That’s enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement. We need to start planning now!
