The best description I’ve heard yet. Noncompetes are a menace, and patients are people, not things to be “stolen.” If you think you’re better than the doctor who left you, you can go ahead and compete with them. And if you can’t, maybe that says something about you.

Yeah because *checks notes* so many med students go into ortho. 3% of active residents per last available AAMC charts, with 60% match rate last yr due to competitiveness. But we’re the problem 🙄 Gd forbid someone wants to take on the grueling path of a surgeon without debt.

Does anyone other than me experience what I call “the attending blessing?” When my residents are having trouble w/something, the moment I decide to scrub in to help is when they succeed. It doesn’t matter if it’s been 5 min or 30, it always happens exactly when I’m being gowned.

Our latest article. My partner Dr D was the driving force on it, as well as my resident Dannie. It’s a simple technique that doesn’t risk the sural nerve, and with a bit of planning on CT has worked well for me.
