LTB.info will be taking a hiatus for the foreseeable future. This project started in solidarity w tenant organizing fighting evictions and the like and now Im being evicted after I asked for COVID precautions in my home. I just don't have the juice for this anymore.

The unilateral switch to digital hearings at the LTB has had a dramatic impact on every facet of a hearing. ACTO put together a shareable, illustrated doc to demonstrate the impact of the digital divide on tenants.

Over 50 tenants at 25 Mabelle, including one currently in the hospital for Covid, joined a virtual meeting last on the long weekend to strategize about how to fight their landlord’s attempt to eliminate all of the buildings parking overnight

Parking is crucial to these tenants. A high portion of tenants work for ride sharing, food delivery, and taxi companies. Many others have disabilities and need their cars to get to medical appointments.

Rather than asking for tenants to provide proof of accessible parking permits, management are asking tenants for detailed medical information.

In response to tenant pressure, management has delayed the elimination of parking several times now, but has also shut down their on site office and tenants emails to management accounts are bouncing back or going unanswered.

Unfortunately for management, these tenants are organized and have a history of winning their fights. They are determined to get an answer one way or another.

The City of Toronto 🇨🇦 opened these shelter hotels 3 years ago, claiming they were a "pathway to housing". Now they're suddenly closing, and residents are getting forced out without a housing plan. Dixon Hall's Director of Housing Services, David Reycraft, everybody:

In our renovictions report released earlier this month, we looked at how some landlords who renovict tenants are open about how renovations and turning over units are central to their business model. Lankin Investments, formerly Pulis Investments, is one of these landlords.

At 1570 Lawrence West, Lankin is evicting tenants on the first floor because it wants to install in-suite laundry and dishwashers for new tenants. This is not about an old building needing work, but a landlord seeking to attract a new demographic of tenant.
