While the weather is clear today, mother nature is going to give us a second round soon. We’ve faced primarily ice and extreme cold over the last week. DPW used nearly 2,400 tons of salt since Jan. 8. Crews remains on 12-hour rotations to address weather Wednesday into Friday.

Indy DPW is expecting 1-3" snowfall Thursday night into Friday morning, which will impact roadways. Officials with DPW are encouraging those who can work remotely on Friday to do so in order to help alleviate pressure on the Friday morning commute. Give our drivers space to work!

Subzero wind chills expected for much of the early weekend with a Wind Chill Advisory for tonight. Temperatures will be even colder Saturday night but lighter winds will keep wind chills from falling as far. #INwx

We want to thank everyone for their patience and use of caution throughout today. Crews are still on 12-hour rotating shifts as we finish up. Continue to use caution as black ice can form at any time. We will stand down resources when conditions and forecasts warrant.

Freezing rain is expected with icy conditions expected by morning. Air temperatures may be slightly above freezing, but ice may still form on sidewalks and roads due to a very cold and frozen ground. If traveling, drive slow and safe! #INwx

Planning ahead? Have a plan for potential icy road conditions especially through late tonight. Avoid unnecessary travel if able or consider going home before the weather hits. Remember: Slow down, give space and get home safe!

A system will bring light snow to central Indiana Friday, primarily during the daytime into the early evening. Minor accums around an inch with locally higher amounts will be possible, but warm ground will limit impacts. #INwx

If it's not falling already, be ready for wet snow and the possibility of refreezing tonight. We could see up to five inches in the worst projections. Make sure you are planning ahead and giving yourself extra time if you are headed downtown for the NBA All-Star events today.

Roads are seeing more impact as surface temps cool. We still have 60 drivers running routes and will change crews at 11 p.m. Be advised of possible refreeze of slushy/wet areas overnight. Give yourself extra time and space when traveling, especially downtown with NBA All-Star.
