Anti-colonial revolutionary Amílcar Cabral was born on this day one century ago. A committed socialist and pan-Africanist, Cabral led the struggle for independence that toppled Portuguese rule in Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde and inspired the fight for liberation around the globe.
