I love how snow petrels always come & flutter around you while you walk over the sea ice- like a good omen- congrats to Benjamin Viola for this elegant study with data from GLS tags from the early Integrated Marine Observing System tagging days- so important to publish tracking data!

Back from Narooma, the IMOS Animal Tracking team has updated our acoustic receiver line, part of a national network tracking animals since 2012. All nine stations are now serviced, enriching the AODN portal with new data. Check out who stopped by: animaltracking.aodn.org.au 🐠📡

Update from IMOS Animal Tracking 🦈 🐠 Our latest Narooma line servicing revealed 6,960 new detections of sharks, rays, & fish! This amounts to 69,949 detections recorded in the region since 2012. Dive into the data on the AODN portal: animaltracking.aodn.org.au

Very happy for IMOS Animal Tracking to be supporting this exciting tiger shark project in the aptly named Shark Bay lead by the superb Ana MM Sequeira #womeninstem

🚨New paper led by Jordan Matley & Natalie Klinard. We reviewed 149 acoustic, radio, satellite, and archival tagging studies + anecdotal accounts from 36 researchers to discuss the long-term effects of tagging aquatic animals with electronic transmitters. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/fa…

Have you ever wondered what the long-term effects of tagging fishes are? We've collated peer-reviewed literature and anecdotal information to answer this question: doi.org/10.1111/faf.12… In FishandFisheries led by Jordan Matley

🚨Research alert! Maximizing power and performance in noisy environments is a key challenge in acoustic tracking. Our newly published white paper at Sydney Harbor with Integrated Marine Observing System shows that adding just one NexTrak R1 receiver to an existing array significantly boosts efficiency,

OTN and IMOS Animal Tracking have teamed up to draft a new guide on acoustic telemetry mooring design best practices for OBPS. If you would like to peer review our OBPS submission, please complete this Google form: forms.gle/2ipT74Xh5UazAg…
