A: In IJM Philippines's experience, vulnerable children are trafficked for the purpose of creating new abusive images and videos. An International Justice Mission/Rights Lab report showed that nearly half a million Filipino children were trafficked to produce child sexual exploitation material in 2022 alone.

A 1/2: Americans are a big part of this global problem. The U.S. consistently ranks #1 in suspicious payments flagged related to online exploitation of children in the Philippines.

A 2/2: There’s no doubt that children are exploited online – and consuming online content can lead to in-person abuse. Nearly half of Journal of Online Trust and Safety respondents said they sought direct contact with children through online platforms after viewing CSAM.
