All pro athletes competing at an international level should have health insurance covered by the governing bodies of the sport. So sad to hear stuff like this happen. Athletes left to figure it out themselves after putting bodies on the line to represent sponsor / country.

I'm thankful to make a living in the sport, and to feel provided for by great sponsors, but my best advice to aspiring pros, who aren't 'influencers', is to find a flexible job with benefits. Good shoe deals based only on performance are... limited.
