Absolutely horrendous and dangerous seamanship on the part of both the Chinese coast guard and the PLAN here. According to the Philippines Coast Guard, one or more Chinese sailors went overboard- although no details provided. It will be interesting to see how China spins this-

Both those Chinese ships are out of service. Neither will be seaworthy for a long time. This is a major victory for the Philippines. China's first "real" naval skirmish and they lost two vessels and the Philippines didn't even fire a shot. Just vastly superior seamanship. 🇵🇭 💪🏽

PLAN and CCG try to squeeze the BRP Suluan between them, which could have been disastrous had it not been for the PCG ship’s deft maneuvering. Hats off to her captain and crew!

My view of the collision at sea of China Coast Guard 3104 and PLA Navy 164 in the vicinity of Bajo de Masinloc in Zambales, Philippines. Before this, the Chinese navy and coast guard ships nearly collided twice trying to outmaneuver BRP Suluan of the Philippine Coast Guard.

Crime rates are down in D.C., there are no riots or other unusual threats- so why are there soldiers on our streets? “Police State” used to refer to other countries, not ours: U.S. Military Is Preparing to Deploy National Guard in D.C., Official Says nytimes.com/2025/08/11/us/… via

The Metropolitan Police Department tracks and publishes the location of all crimes committed in the DC; the map grid section where this video was shot on the National Mall near the Lincoln Memorial has recorded zero (0) crimes so far in 2025: crimecards.dc.gov

I would not want to be the captain of the CCG vessel 🇨🇳 when coming back to port and report on such a dramatic incident… 🤷🏻‍♂️

The irony is not lost on many in Washington that Trump says spitting on a DC cop is justification for hitting/punching back "hard" when he pardoned hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted those same cops — and said attacks on them that day were "minor."

What's truly amazing is DDG 164 continued to maneuver here aggressively AFTER the collision. The idea that you wouldn't stop, reassess, change out the watch team, call home, etc., is just stunning to me as a former mariner. Bafflingly reckless.

BRP Suluan, which ironically is the smallest of the ships sparring in this melee encounter, couldn’t have been the one conducting highly dangerous maneuvers compared to DDG164 and CCG3104 which somehow “safely” maneuvered into a fratricidal collision. 🙃

The video taken by the Philippine Coast Guard clearly shows the wake of the PLAN DDG after making a 180 degree hard turn to starboard to try to ram the PCG ship. If the DDG had instead *not* maneuvered into an attempted illegal ram, she would have avoided colliding with the CCG.
