This week, Year 5 have been creating pieces of watercolour art inspired by their reading book: Shackleton’s Journey by William Grill. As part of this, our budding artists have been experimenting with different techniques using watercolour. #WeAreCreative

This week, Class 6 have continued their Science topic of Electricity! ⚡️ Here they are, looking at series circuits, testing different types and numbers of components to see what affects the brightness of lightbulbs! 💡 #WeAreAmbitious

We’ve been having fun recreating some Stone Age cave paintings this week! We’ve used chalk pastels to produce a textured background and then, using photos of real cave paintings, we created our own versions.🤚✋✋✋

We had an exciting day at Hotwells today as our hall became the Polling Station for our School Council elections! The children were able to experience the voting process first-hand, complete with voting booths and ballot boxes, whilst learning about the importance of Democracy!

On Monday, our Year 6 Tag Rugby Team played in an Ashton Park SSP tournament against other schools at Broad Plain. They demonstrated excellent resilience and won their last game (despite having lost the opening games) and represented the school brilliantly. Well done Team Hotwells! 🏉

Year 6 visited Trinity Lunch Club this week to meet some of their members, play games and share some of our brilliant writing linked to World War II! It was exciting to hear that some of the members also attended Hotwells Primary School when they were young! #WeAreLocalCitizens

Year 5 enjoyed their trip to SPARKS this week where they learned about the lifecycle of a T-shirt and how to shop sustainably. The visit really made us think about what we can do to help the environment. Thanks for having us, Sparks Bristol! #WeAreAmbitious #WeAreGlobalCitizens

Year 4 had a brilliant visit to the Park Row Synagogue this week, where they were able to learn about the importance of places of worship in the Jewish faith. We are so lucky to have so many brilliant resources right on our doorstep! #WeAreLocalCitizens #WeAreGlobalCitizens

Hello Marcus Rashford! Year 4 at Hotwells Primary School have written you letters of support as part of our English work. They have enjoyed learning about all of the opportunities you have provided for children across the country whilst also being an inspiration on the football pitch!

Don't forget, our Festive Fayre is tomorrow (Saturday 2nd December) between 2:00 - 5:00pm. The PTA will be selling Christmas trees, wreaths, mince pies and mulled refreshments! There will also be a variety of stalls, games and Santa's grotto! All welcome - the more the merrier!

This week, Year 5 started their new science topic on Friction. The children experimented with increasing and decreasing friction by moving a jelly cube with chopsticks and then coating it with the oil to compare the results. Great work, Year 5! #WeAreAmbitious

Year 6 have recently started their new Science topic on Light 💡 To launch the topic, they conducted experiments to see whether light travels in a straight line and then had a go at creating different shapes of shadows. Great work, Year 6 Scientists! #WeAreAmbitious

Year 6 had a brilliant trip to Lifeskills at the Create Centre this week where they learned how to assess risk and respond in lots of different real-life scenarios. This visit is always a huge hit and we know our Year 6 pupils won’t forget it in a hurry! Thank you Lifeskills!
