Anime is more popular than ever. This year alone had two of the highest grossing animated movies to date at the box office — both of which are eligible for Oscar nominations. Amazon’s choice to use AI to dub Banana Fish is a massive insult to us as performers. AI continues to

Banana Fish is one of the most heart wrenching and romantic stories ever told in anime. For Amazon to implement AI for the English dub defeats the entire purpose. But of course they don’t care about the artistic meaning🙄 Boycott Prime. Nuff said. #HireRealActorsAmazon

There’s no shortage of reasons to do this, but I’m following Daman’s lead. The pure greed of Amazon Prime Video using AI dubbing instead of human performances is gross as hell. Artists deserve better. Consumers deserve better. Vote with your dollar - the only way they’ll hear.

I want to thank Amazon for removing their English AI dub of #BANANAFISH. That being said, myself and many others believe that every other language should be given the same respect. The same goes for every other piece of media that has been dubbed with AI for your platform. I
