On this date 20 years ago, paramedic John Rossiter was killed in the line of duty while operating in Halifax during Hurricane Juan. Paramedic Rossiter succumbed to his injuries after his ambulance was struck by a falling tree on Summer Street. May he continue to RIP.

On this day in 1917, Halifax suffered the largest Line of Duty death incident in Canadian firefighting history. The Halifax Explosion took over 2000 lives, including nine lives from the Halifax Fire Department.
