Saturday's Sens-Habs game offers an opportunity to remember their 2013 playoff clash, a memorable victory for Ottawa, but one that is now too far in the distant past.

A gentleman and classy guy. And a fine two-way player in his prime. Had a deadly accurate shot that made him a shootout favourite. Wishing Jakob Silfverberg all the best in retirement.

Given how the Ottawa Senators fared in 2023-24, you'd think the attendance would have tanked. But somehow that's not the case, writes Wayne Scanlan. sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/se…

Yes, there is playoff hockey in Ottawa. Congrats to the 67’s for their win against Brantford. Onward to Oshawa. There is a huge playoff history between these two teams including the famous 1988 comeback engineered by Brian Kilrea’s 67’s. This should be a good series.

Nothing gets hockey players more worked up than discourteous empty net entries. Hischier just let the puck roll in off his stick after the buzzer and Tkachuk went ballistic. No clapper, though.

It’s a shame that the Bobblehead guy won’t be in the lineup tonight due to an injury. But Tim Stützle will be there in face and spirit.

The off-season changes are already under way. Steve Staios and co. want to put their stamp on the organization. Dropping these scouts now also gives them a head start in finding jobs elsewhere for next season.

Pretty confident the Senators are going to put up a strong effort for supportive Ottawa fans on Fan Appreciation Night.

The Yanks playing little league ball in the 9th helped the Jays today. But some great pitching backed the 3-0 win to spoil NY’s home opener. Ex-Yank Chad Green closing out the game was a nice touch.
