William Shakespeare is believed to have been born here in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon.

By the 1840s, it was split into a pub, a butcher’s and a tenement and had severely decayed.

Using an early drawing from 1769, it was extensively restored by the Birthplace Trust.
