It's been a pleasure sitting through the shit on the med reg/cons cycle,
I wasn't really ready for the shit on the mess cycle to begin but as they say I'm GTA 'oh shit, here we go again'

ST4 Infectious Diseases and General Medicine ✅

Looking forward (with some trepidation) to a move to the North East to start training in the speciality I've been working towards since my 3rd year of medical school.

It hasn't quite sunk in yet!

Called the micro reg at 1930 on a Sunday and immediately after getting off the phone they’ve sent me this email.

Absolutely chuffed with this feedback, particularly given the time of the call 😂

'The reality is that cases such as this risk adding to the sense of fear doctors hold about the GMC and the medical practitioner tribunals. We hope that simple common sense will prevail in this case...” (3/5)

Are you a consultant working on the medical take?

As I approach 20 years of medical take work (which I enjoy more than any other kind of shift), I notice many things we seem to do out of tradition.

The take ain’t changed in 20 years!

Could/should it?

'Spending has been put under additional pressure by the cost of covering strikes by junior doctors which has cost more than £1.5 billion and affected more than 430,000 patients’ appointments.'

Maybe address the concerns of a major part of your workforce, then?

Laudable aim, but passing the same patient in the corridor 15x over a shift and saying hello ignores the moral injury mainly people suffer from having to see this state of affairs.

Hey RCGP fans take a look at this… A royal college making position statements that support those working in a broken system. Not pushing courses that improve its own coffers.

Think about it. Start supporting us. How about that?

Ministers and NHS executives have repeatedly claimed that PAs and anaesthesia associates (AAs) are not being used to replace doctors.

But leaked documents seen by this newspaper found associates on doctors' rotas at 31 hospitals in England.

This is a very good point that has not been highlighted enough. I have been a doctor for 25 years and rightly could not step into a GP surgery and see patients. I would need to go through the whole GP training scheme. A PA can do it after a 2y university course. It makes no sense
