Struck by the random nature of what survives and how. Discarded in 1653, this lovely Saxon font (9th C.) carved from a single limestone block, was rediscovered in 1843 on a local farm, being used as a drinking trough for livestock. Later reunited with its base - #Deerhurst , Glos.
