1/We're pleased end of life experience is reflected in the Inquiry into poverty in rural Scotland by Scottish Parliament CPG on Poverty, to recognise unique challenges rural & island communities face at end of life. They are at significant risk of dying in poverty👉bit.ly/4dQQFoe

🫶🏻 I’m really grateful to everyone who has responded to my Scottish Parliament consultation on my proposed Bill to establish a legal right to Palliative Care in Scotland. ⏰ The consultation closes on the 4th June !! 💻 More info on the proposal and how to respond can be found here.👇

Great to meet with John Swinney, @NeilCGray Jenni Minto MSP Maree Todd and Paul McLennan - MSP for East Lothian at #SNP24 - thank you for taking the time to discuss palliative care, its role in and importance to our health and social care service.

Beautiful day to celebrate #HospiceCareWeek with hospices and MSPs @scottisparliament this lunchtime. Thanks to Miles Briggs MSP for hosting Hospice UK

It's been great to connect with so many MSPs at our Scottish Parliament event today! We’re especially grateful for the Minister's support for hospices. Huge thanks to Miles Briggs MSP for sponsoring this important event.

Dr Narmadha Kali Vanan and one of our advanced clinical nurse specialists, Monica, had a great time attending the Hospice UK event in Scottish Parliament today😊 Here's to positive change within palliative care🤞🏻💜 #HospiceCareWeek

Many thanks Jenni Minto MSP for celebrating the incredible work of hospices with us yesterday in Parliament #HospiceCareWeek

Today our team calculated the financial impact of the budget , and it adds an additional £250k of financial pressure. I sincerely hope that the additional funds coming to Scotland are used wisely to assist Scottish hospices with this longstanding underfunding. The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice

Really wonderful talks yesterday on rural palliative care including personal experiences. Very moving. Great that this important subject is being highlighted at #HospiceUKConf Helen Malo Anna Sutherland

Concerning report from Stephen Boyle . I'm struck by the contributions that a focus on end of life care can make on key challenges listed: unscheduled care, delayed discharge, acute capacity and care closer to home. 1 in 3 hospital beds are people in the last year of life.

bmj.com/content/387/bm… Where specialist palliative care is not offered, death is part of the social/spiritual experience of life. But so are uncontrolled symptoms. Neither is ideal. Combined approaches needed. Helen Malo Hospice UK Kate Forbes MSP Mark Hazelwood (mostly on Bluesky) Jenni Minto MSP
