I held fruitful discussions with President Abdelfattah Elsisi in Cairo today, where we signed key agreements to elevate Somalia-Egypt relations to a strategic level. This marks a new chapter in our partnership, focusing on education, security, trade & stronger bilateral cooperation.

I extend my deepest condolences to the government & people of the United States following the tragic plane crash in Washington, D.C. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time. Somalia stands in solidarity with the U.S & shares in their sorrow.

Today, I spoke with President Salva Kiir Mayardit and First Vice President Riek Machar about the security situation in South Sudan. Somalia stands in full solidarity with the people of South Sudan and remains committed to supporting efforts for a peaceful and lasting resolution.

I attended the IGAD 43rd Extraordinary Virtual Assembly on South Sudan today. Somalia unequivocally calls for immediate cessation of hostilities, de-escalation and a return to dialogue. Peace and stability must be prioritised to safeguard the future of the South Sudanese people.

I participated in the Somali Youth Day commemoration in Mogadishu today. Thirteen patriots, under colonial rule and without today’s opportunities, led Somalia to independence and statehood. Today’s youth must shape our democracy and lead the fight against international terrorism.

Today, I have inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of the Ministry of Endowments & Islamic Affairs. The completion of this project represents a significant step forward in strengthening our institutional infrastructure & enhance the quality of public service delivery.
