This is how it’s done! Ranger Rose demonstrates how to find a harvest mouse nest ahead of the survey at Northam Burrows Country Park today. Impressive stuff! The survey isn’t over yet, but they have already found 3 nests.:)

Two exciting records today with the Pebblebed Heaths : the first nest on West Hawkerland for more than three years, and a new site nearby that hasn’t been checked before also had a nest! Not high numbers, but great to know that harvest nice are there. :)
Twelve harvest mouse solitary nests, five breeding nests, ten dormouse nests (!!!!) & dozens of field voles running around on today’s harvest mouse survey at Brook Manor today. Huge thanks go to the 38 people who came to help, braving the sleet & hail! Devon Environment Foundation Moor Meadows

Our first group survey of the season struck gold this morning on the Pebblebed Heaths’ West Hawkerland survey. We found two breeding nests, so another hectad can be coloured in on our map! Thank you everyone who came to help.
