Please RT: A team of researchers is looking for volunteers to translate a survey on Corona (1300 words) into many languages. We're trying to do this fast, and we have gratitude but no money. If you're willing to help, please comment below with your language. Thank you so much!

Best news of the day! Hoping my PhD fieldwork to #ArnhemLand can still happen at a later date thanks to this extension🤞🏼

The university I work for & study at has been absolutely smashing #COVID19. It has secured all casual work during this period, it has offered 6 month extensions to all HDR students, it has redefined full-time work to 25hrs a week for carers. I’ve never been so proud of ourANU.

A great thing about being in linguistics is... for the first time in my Anglophone life people can more or less pronounce my name right!

Skywhales represent the relationship humans have with nature and it is only in the most serendipitous overlap of all the correct weather conditions that Skywhales can fly. So turns out that’s not today. #Skywhalepapa I hope to see you gracing Canberra’s skies another day!

#ICLDC7 Day 3: Talk Story 1 had so many good points come out of the discussion on language documentation but Elena Benedicto’s stance on the restrictive frameworks and deadlines imposed by academia being a process of “institutions recolonising the communities” is just spot on 🙌🏼

"Dialectal differences and grammatical divergence: A cross-linguistic survey" - manuscript submitted with Henry Leslie-O'Neill and Haoyi Li. Maybe unique as a systematic study of dialect differentiation. Comments most welcome! osf.io/preprints/soca…
