I’ve had so many conversations with early educators in DC about how transformative the Pay Equity Fund has been in their lives. These proposed cuts will devastate these educators and directly harm the families and young children who rely on high quality child care in DC. Shameful

The data in our latest NAEYC workforce survey brief (naeyc.org/ece-workforce-…) supports Senator Patty Murray's urgent call for emergency funding to #savechildcare . Costs are going up for families and the supply of quality care is shrinking. We need action now!

Without support, child care providers are staring down some impossible decisions— laying off staff, cutting child care slots, raising prices for families, or even shutting their doors.

This is a huge problem not just for working parents, but for businesses, and our economy.

The child care crisis is going to get worse for everyone—parents, kids, businesses, and our whole economy—if we don’t act soon to keep our child care system afloat. I'll keep pushing to take action now to fix our broken child care system.

Here's what the expiration of federal child care funds meant in Milton, WI: ➡️closing down a local day care➡️ forcing a mom to leave her full-time job➡️and leaving a small business without the workers it needs.
