Lavender hums with summer. Bees drift from bloom to bloom, drawn to the haze of lilac that borders paths or spills over stone - bringing structure and softness in equal measure. Plant it in full sun and free-draining soil, where it will thrive and return, year after year.

Feed with Care Avoid strong fertilisers in high heat. Use a diluted liquid seaweed feed or slow-release fertiliser in the evening to avoid stressing roots.

If you're wondering where we are this evening, we were on a day early this week because of Glastonbury. But fear not, there's a repeat tomorrow at 9am or head over to BBC iPlayer and catch up with us there. We'd hate you to miss out! 😎 bbc.in/44jH8Ci

Group Containers Together Cluster pots and containers closely to create a microclimate that reduces water loss through evaporation. This also makes watering more efficient and helps shade the sides of the pots, protecting roots from baking.

July in the Garden hums with energy, where colour deepens and each day feels steeped in warmth. Feed, water and deadhead summer bedding to keep the rhythm going. Cut back early perennials to invite a second flush, and sow biennials now for next year’s grace.

Many thanks to Mark and Allison for hosting Hadlow Gardeners' Society's Autumn Show in their magnificent garden. Here are a few photos of some of the exhibits. In case you are wondering why there are pebbles on a number of entries it's because it was very blustery. Enjoy!
