Living and cycling in Hackney since 2003, I want Hackney to be as safe and comfortable for me and my daughter to cycle here as it is in the Netherlands

I bought this cheeseboard in Alkmaar in the summer and then spent weeks with it on the back of my bike as I cycled all around the country. Some of the cheese I bought from the farm it was made, on the island of Texel. All brought home to London by bike

In my experience often they only ban bike parking after building huge bike parking garages directly underneath where they're banned

Yet the latest designs for Pembury Circus are 20 years out of date. Hackney Council go back to the drawing board - it just isn’t good enough to spend £19million on a design that completely fails to support active sustainable travel

The F1 Dutch Grand Prix weekend starts today in the town of Zandvoort. And despite its relatively remote location on the sea (with strong winds and rain in the forecast), upwards of 45,000 fans ride their bikes there each day. The pop-up cycle parking outside of the race track.

Whenever you cycle in Amsterdam, you are riding on the shoulders of giants… Tens of thousands of citizens who, decades ago, took to the streets to fight back against the rampant rise of the car in their community. Without this defiant act, their city would look like any other.

As much as Workcycles escape hatch does make changing the back inner tube much easier I still despise carrying out bike maintenance more than anything else in the world. I hate it.

Albert Cuypstraat, Amsterdam in 1980 and today. Cars are no longer allowed on this busy shopping street, now access is for trams, bicycles and pedestrians only. None of the traders want the cars back.

No, we failed to implement 3 promised LTNs & too many local road scheme designs have been outdated & poor. Enforcement of LTNs & school streets is inadequate. There are a lot of left green-minded people in Hackney who reliably vote. The outcome is predictable & a warning.

Hackney Council's disappointing plans for Pembury Junction (pictured) will not provide safe cycling and will not lead to more people choosing to cycle through Hackney Central. We deserve & need a safe, modern junction design. Read more: hackneycycling.org.uk/campaigns/make… Then take action.
