Calories out is not independent of calories in. The likely mechanism for the faster metabolic rate is lowering carbs lowers insulin, which lowers fat storage, which floods the bloodstream with energy, which speeds up metabolism. But whatever the mechanism, the effect is clear.

How is it possible that I have maintained a 150lb weight loss for 8 years & I’ve NEVER COUNTED A CALORIE

I’m also eating much MORE fatty meat, & much LESS fruit, LESS ❤️ heart-healthy whole grains & I’ve consistently skipped “the most important meal of the day”

I’m puzzled
