Every onfield situation/decision with a French referee is like one of Forrest Gump’s boxes of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.

Lots of talented people in the Netherlands, some paying 52% tax. In Australia some talent are paying 47%. National’s excuse that NZ needs tax cuts for our top earners is flawed. In more than one way.

Wellington finally, finally live up to their potential. A great game of footy, best team won, although that last five minutes…..!

Plenty of optimism that the rain which made setting up for ‘Spring into Tawa’ quite a challenge will be gone by the 10am start.

Great to meet Japanese LDP Sec-Gen Toshimitsu Motegi in Auckland today. Such meetings highlight the strong links between NZ and Japan, and the degree of mutual interest. A real honour to represent NZ at this meeting. 🇳🇿🇯🇵

This is a sad loss. Chester and I were young cops together, and the thoughtful, humane approach he took to policing carried on through his legal and political careers. A thoroughly decent human being. nzherald.co.nz/nz/former-mp-c…

A very accommodating group at the #WtgnMulticulturalCouncil Woman’s workshop today in Ohariu; accomodating because they put up with my son Michael, here taking photos in the background, as they went about their business. Very dedicated folk who walk the talk!

The Ngauranga to Petone section of Te Ara Tupua is a win-win for Ōhāriu. It gives us access to our 9km of harbour where kids will be able to swim and catch a kahawai. It’s great for the environment, protects the rail and motorway, and offers transport that works for everyone.

This is a tragedy for our city and my condolences go out to the victims of this fire. We are thinking of those impacted and their families, including the survivors and the fire service personnel and other emergency services dealing with the tragedy. i.stuff.co.nz/national/30087…

We’re in good shape going forward based on the quality of the people at Festival for the Future, which I participated in tonight. The Govt’s performance holds up pretty well, particularly for young people. Always risky to agree to a costume photo-op, but it could’ve been worse!

Ngaio residents, and other Ngaio Gorge users have been admirably patient awaiting the return to full two way traffic. I’ve hardly heard a complaint in the six years of stabilisation and rebuilding since the big slip. Now enjoy uninterrupted journeys up and down the new road!

Good stuff giving the next MP for Wellington Central Ibrahim a tour of the Johnsonville Mall and Waitohi today. Our staff at WCC, Takapū ward councillors and Greg O'Connor are continuing to work with the mall owners to make a reinvigorated Johnsonville a reality.

That’s one of our flyers from the 2020 election. Thanks for promoting some of the great work our Labour Government has done for the people Ōhāriu, though. Here’s our 2023 flyer…

I was able to show the Prime Minister contrasting parts of the Ōhāriu electorate today. This included Quay Marine in Ngauranga, who keep ferries and other ships serviced and Challenge 2000, who do great work within the social field. The sun shone all day!

Doorknocking turns up some great surprises. Jack and I got to know each other well through the months of our cancer treatment together in 2007 but we lost touch until today; survivors together.
