We need to decriminalize cell phones in prison. I used my cell phone in prison to raise my daughter and document the human rights abuses I experienced at San Quentin. Family connections help people return home safely, not isolation.

Terrible implications on many levels. For instance, police have a long history of monitoring protests and targeting leaders of community movements (See Alex Vitale’s book for more on that). This will help police identify and target protest leaders more broadly than ever before.
