Dear colleagues in academia: If you are not already, I very strongly recommend you to take better advantage of IEEE Software magazine’s SE Radio in your teaching! Tons of very practical conversations from industry!

Over the years, my "here there be dragons" list has gotten long. Mixing threading and forking --> page fault Floating point equality --> page fault High serialization loads --> page fault XML macros --> page fault ... 4/4

Textual, and TUIs in general are amazing. If you're building an app for a warehouse worker, please build an IBM AS/400'ish TUI, they'll eternally thank you. Waiting for a react DOM load, spinners, animations, etc. for millionth time is not fun. Aesthetics be damned. No one cares.

A reminder that rest isn’t something that we have to earn and taking a break from work doesn’t have to be about boosting productivity later on. Resting and taking breaks can be about remembering who we are apart from work and honoring ourselves and others as human beings.

favorite linux video editor? i'll probably just be doing very simple edits, but if i was going to learn it, i'd like to be able to have the possibility of doing more stuff later. (please leave comments as well)

My former team at Meta just released a new Python package called `balance`, which automates the adjustment of biased samples (e.g. for surveys but many other applications). Exciting for me because the package was in its infancy when I left. Check it out! import-balance.org

Scott Tolinski - Syntax.fm Visual Studio Code idk, in neovim i'd just write a little lua function that checks whether there are any available definitions in files that don't contain `.d.ts` and then use that as the location to jump to ;)
