📢The G7 has just agreed to phase out coal power by the early 2030s - almost all members are already taking major steps to achieve this goal by 2030, in alignment with 1.5°C pathways.

This is big step for Japan, the only country without a domestic coal phaseout commitment.

Really doesn't seem like an economically or politically strategic or morally conscionable time to step back from climate action, does it? 👀

The UK's spent over £100bn on gas since the start of the crisis. Yikes

Lots of talk about costs of decarbonising power

Not much talk about the costs of maintaining the status quo

I agree: Action on climate change will also deliver warmer homes, healthier air, and more resilient and thus more profitable farms. There's never been a more critical time for us all to redouble our efforts. I Look forward to First Minister Humza Yousaf's response. Màiri McAllan

Currently, the oil & gas industry invests about 2.5% of its total capital spending in clean energy.

If oil & gas producers want to play their full part in meeting Paris Agreement goals, 50% of their investments should be going to clean energy by 2030 → iea.li/3PxAHoF
