#OnThisDay in 1924 an inquiry started into the performance of Cork Corporation. The chosen venue was the Courthouse and the inquiry was chaired by Nicholas O'Dwyer. It ran until 6 September and culminated in the dissolution of the Corporation from 31 October 1924.

Philip Monahan was appointed as Commissioner to run the affairs of the city. Cork Corporation remained dissolved for four-and-a-half years. When it returned in 1929, Philip Monahan became the country's first City Manager. He worked with a council led by Lord Mayor, Seán French.
