Back in May, we called for the UK’s major political parties to have frontbenches that are at least 50% women. The UK government frontbench is now majority women, and we’re delighted!

In her 1st engagement as Girlguiding's Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh joined Brownies, Guides & Rangers at a special event. Girls asked astronaut Sunita Williams about her time in space... while she orbited on the International Space Station 270 miles above!

Her Royal Highness was presented with a Patron badge by young members and @Chief_Guide Tracy Foster. Brownie Amelia said: 'Today was amazing. I was really lucky to meet our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh. She was very nice and spoke to us about the astronaut and space.' ✨

🚀✨ An Out of This World Day! The Duchess of Edinburgh joined 100 Girlguiding members for a live Q&A with astronaut Sunita Williams aboard the International Space Station!  👩‍🚀🌍 This special radio contact, held at Brooklands Museum, celebrated girls in STEM and gave Girlguides

💫 The Duchess was also presented with a special Girlguiding badge, marking her new role as Patron, following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II.
