When a student comes into class and requests to sightread Star Wars on May the 4th… you run to find it and spend class discussing musical motifs, how music impacts a story, and sight-reading! All standards covered in middle school band!!

We were very fortunate to have Mr. Srigley, an alumni of Gifford 6 and Gifford 7, former GMS Band Director, and now Assoc. Band Director at Vero Beach High School come work with students from @GMSProud and Oslo Middle School at our Back-to-Band Camp last night! #GMSProud ChadwickBacon, Ed.D

The halls of Gifford Middle are once again busting with life as the first day of a new school year unfolds! Students streamed in with a mix of excitement and determination.

Thank you Mr. Srigley (Vero Beach High School) for inviting some of our 8th grade trumpet players (@GMSProud) to participate in a masterclass this morning with former GMS/VBHS student, and now trumpet professor at NEIU, Dr. Travis Heath. We learned a lot sitting in with the HS students!
