Germany stands ready to support Guatemala's national peacebuilding and prevention efforts within the Peacebuilding Commission and beyond. Thank you to H.E. Bernardo Arévalo, President of the Republic of Guatemala, for updating us during today's #PBC meeting.

Germany's colonial past remains a deeply painful chapter of our history. We are acutely aware that we still have a long way to go. This week's discussions provide an excellent opportunity to create space for those conversations, exchange perspectives, and learn from each other.

Returning artifacts acquired during the colonial period is a priority for 🇩🇪. We work closely with countries of origin to ensure their return to their rightful homes. 🇩🇪 gladly co-sponsored the UN resolution led by Greece to the United Nations . Its consensual adoption is an important step forward.

Glad that so many guests, incl. ASG Brands Kehris, joined us in opening our new exhibition at the UN: “Pictures for the #HumanRights”. Artists from many countries translate their thoughts and feelings on the Universal Declaration of HR in poignant works. #HumanRightsDay

Colleagues from OHCHR UN Human Rights, New Zealand and Vanuatu presented an engaging and moving documentary on youth activism for climate. Germany was glad to provide the venue, reflecting our commitment to partnerships in #ClimateAction and #HumanRights.

Ahead of the #UNSC meeting on #Iran's nuclear commitments as set out in Res. 2231, the E3 Germany in the United Nations, La France à l'ONU 🇫🇷🇺🇳 UK at the UN 🇬🇧🇺🇳 warned of the urgency of the Iran nuclear crisis. Iran must change course, de-escalate, and choose diplomacy.

Thank you to Uruguay, UK and Japan for the successful first #PKMinisterial PrepCom, which took place in Montevideo, on the road to Berlin. We were glad to bring the insights of Montevideo back to NY in a lively discussion among many UN delegations gathered at the German House.

International law protects all parties of the conflict. It can support a peaceful settlement. Legal clarity is crucial in this process. We support the request for the CIJ_ICJ to render it’s advisory opinion. The opinion can have relevance in other contexts of occupation. #UNGA

He is charged with the investigation of serious crimes and the achievement of justice in Central African Republic.
