Hubby Ed Llewellin heading out to the #IcelandEruption from dreary Durham. Even if the eruption may have stopped (hopefully, paused), I’m still wildly jealous of the ‘adventure’! He’s meeting his students Janina Gillies 🌋 Ariane Loisel, who are already there. 🌋🌋🌋

PhD student Janina Gillies 🌋 is presenting her work creating bubbly analogue materials with different gas volume fractions in a reproducible and controllable way, including isothermal and non-isothermal solidifying approaches! Tuesday at 5.10 pm and Wednesday at 3.10 pm!

And I had an awesome time with @RebVMRob as well 😁. It was great team work 😉

Hello from our impromptu mid-conference fieldtrip! We are soaked through but excited to be looking at textures in a delicious rhyolite! I was last looking at this dome in 2009! Great to see it with fresh eyes all these years later!

Many congratulations to Janina Gillies (Janina Gillies 🌋) who submitted her PhD thesis recently. Her PhD was on textural evolution of pyroclasts in weakly explosive basaltic eruptions, supervised by Ed Llewellin, Dr Fabian Wadsworth & Richard James Brown. Her viva is next week!
