We need to go easy on 'pimping' students and residents.
When I was a med student on my #surgery rotation, we had weekly chief rounds.
One time he threw up an x-ray, spied me out, and asked:
'How do you read an x-ray?'
Having no idea, I guessed: 'From top to bottom?'
Eye-roll.

Being rigorous about science does not mean we have to be cruel in how we interact as scientists.

Sadly, there are people who are cruel without ever being rigorous.

Encouragingly, there are people who are kind while also being rigorous.

We can each choose how we treat others.

I am not impressed by people who put a lot of titles in front of their names, or a lot of letters after.
I am impressed by people who are:
Kind.
Humble.
Honest.
Generous.
Respectful.
Full of integrity.
Have good manners.

I was at a medical meeting. One of the keynote speakers was a hospice physician.
