Gardaí in Athy Co. Kildare clocked this car being driven 91km/h in a 60km/h zone last night. When stopped we discovered that he was an unaccompanied learner permit holder. Hold on....

The Learner driver was in fact disqualified and also on bail for previously driving while disqualified. He also tested seven times over the legal alcohol limit for driving. #SaferRoads

Galway Roads Policing Unit intercepted this motorcyclist while he was travelling 52km/h above the speed limit near Oranmore. He was without bike insurance too. A costly spin to charge the battery. #SaferRoads

We saw the driver of this car swerving in and out of its lane on the N4 in Dublin last night. When he was pulled we learned he had no insurance and we also suspected he was driving under the influence. Back at the station he tested over the twice the legal limit. #SaferRoads

The other evening, Gardaí detected this driver travelling 45km/h above the speed limit on the N5 at Ballinagare, Co. Roscommon. A €160 fine and three penalty points are now in the post. #SaferRoads

On Monday, Gardaí held 18 checkpoints in Co. Kildare. Among the 29 drivers detected speeding were these two in a 50km/h zone in Monasterevin, and the other going 116km/h in an 80km/h zone at Sallins. #SaferRoads

While we were on patrol in Carrick-on-Shannon we spotted this car being driven erratically and pulled in the driver. During our chat with him we discovered that he was a learner permit holder driving unaccompanied and with no L plates on display. He also had no motor insurance.

When our suspicions were raised about the possibility that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, we decided to make an arrest and complete a test back at the station. He tested over 14 times the legal drink driving limit. There's a few charges there now. #SaferRoads

What could be worth the rush? Our Roads Policing Unit in Sligo/Leitrim detected the driver of this car going 53km/h above the speed limit on the N4 at Drumfin, Co. Sligo. They were fined €160 and have had three points added to their licence. #SaferRoads

We detected the driver of this van travelling 104km/h in a 50km/h zone along the R747 near Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow. An astonishing 54km/h too fast. The driver was arrested and charged with a dangerous driving offence. #SaferRoads
