My life has only been made significantly better as a resident by making friends in other specialties all across the hospital, and I wish hospitals and residencies would invest more in that

Genuinely, what do you all respond when someone outside medicine asks you “how’s residency going?” because the only words I can think of is “it’s fine”

My attending asked us what we would be doing if not medicine, and of course I told him my dream is to be Jimmy Fallon

and the BIGGEST compliment is that he said he could actually see that for me!!!! That late night talk show host fits me well!!! 🤩😂

When I think about where I was a year ago as an M4 wrapping up interviews to now…. wow lol me then would not believe what happened in the past year 😂

In 2024 let’s all be nice to the interns on the phone when they call, I promise whatever you’re annoyed with … it probably wasn’t our decision to annoy you with it

Every once in a while, I get a patient that reminds me of one of my grandparents

None of them were here with us earthside when I made it this far to become a doctor, but when I see them in my patients, it’s like a reminder that they are still here with me too 🥹

One of the CCU nurses overnight thanked me for being nice to them :)

And while that is such a sweet sentiment, it’s crazy to think that some other interns/residents/whoever have been so rude that they feel the need to thank me for doing the bare minimum as a decent human/doc
