The longer you stay in publishing, the harder it becomes to trust people. You want to support everyone, blurb everyone, read everyone, but you also want to protect yourself and your friends because every week there’s some new bullshit, a new predator, another publisher folding…

Listen, writing requires these things: reading a lot, writing a lot, editing a lot. You should also support others and plug your work as much as you can. All the other shit folks do—fake profiles, review bombing, being racist, harassing women—is awful, evil, and damn stupid.
