FUN FACTS ABOUT CHLOROPLASTS!: Chloroplasts contain their own DNA, a double membrane, and ribosomes! This suggests that Chloroplasts were once prokaryotes that were later engulfed by a eukaryotic cell 😱‼️ #WeAreBarrons #CELLebrate2023 #APbiology #science #cell

Ribosome Fact of the Day: In the ribosome, the word “rib” is derived from ribonucleic acid (RNA) which provides instructions on making proteins :) Isn't that interesting? #Cellebration2023 #wearebarrons #reasons4ribosome #gotprotein WHS SCIENCE Woodbridge Barrons 🇺🇸

Hello, we are Ribosomes. Originally discovered in 1974, by Albert Claude, Christian de Duve, and George Emil Palade, we are the location of protein synthesis. So Got Protein? not without ribosomes.

Ribosomes are made of RNA and protein and we like to say we are a tiny factory in a cell and in our factory we work to synthesize proteins by reading mRNA and translating it into a string of amino acids. Our product, proteins, conduct many functions for the cell’s operation.

We are not here to focus on one simple task, our production of proteins are used all throughout the cell to help it operation properly.

Lysosomes failure to keep up with damage, wear and tear, and excessive cellular components damage the cell. The result is an accumulation of waste and cellular garbage, a little trashy if I say so myself. lifespan.io/topic/lysosome…
