A roller coaster ride will be taken with temperatures and rain this week as highs will fall from the mid to upper 80s struggling to get to around 70 by Sunday with plenty of storms. The work week starts with sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s and cool lows as we start the week.

Forecast rainfall amounts Friday Night through Sunday. Look for widespread 1 to 3 inch amounts with isolated higher totals possible. This could result in additional rises on area waterways as well as flooding of poor drainage and flood prone areas.

Here are some of the key points for the weather this weekend. There is no severe weather threat, but there will be a flash flood threat on Saturday and Sunday. Rivers are expected to rise slightly but will not reach major flood stage.

IMPORTANT DEBRIS INFO: All remaining debris must be put near the street ASAP. In working with the state, our goal is to have all debris removed within the next 10 days. This is for both Slidell and unincorporated St. Tammany.

NWS Survey Crews in Slidell, LA report damage near Old Spanish Trail consistent with at least an EF-1 tornado. Additional surveys will be needed tomorrow (April 11, 2024) to assess path length, path width and max wind speeds.

NWS Survey Crews in Saint Francisville report damage north of town consistent with at least an EF-1 tornado. The survey is ongoing at the time of this statement and should conclude later this evening with assessments in path length, path width and wind speeds forthcoming.

Storm Surveys continue across the region this afternoon. An EF-2 tornado has been confirmed in Lake Charles. The tornado had maximum winds of 115 MPH and was on the ground for just over a mile.
