JimmyTheGiant One thing about this stat - the top 1% of tax payers is different to the top 1% of earners and the top 1% richest people. Our tax system taxes high earning workers much more than super wealthy families (who are much richer).

No. There is a benefit called “Personal Independent Payment” (PIP) that disabled and unwell people can apply for, it’s ridiculously hard to get and the application process is dehumanising to say the least. Part of that benefit can be used to pay monthly for a LEASED car.. 1/2

Wes Streeting said he’s responsible for long ambulance waits and the lack of GP appointments. What he failed to mention is that he is also responsible for 20,000 NHS doctors potentially being out of a speciality training job this August and being unable to become

The government says it wants to make significant savings on welfare payments to the disabled and help the disabled into work. The point, say all ministers - led Sir Keir Starmer - is not to harm the disabled, but to free them from a life of dependency. That, they claim, is

I have a newsfeed saying ‘crackdown’ on disability claimants. Have you ever seen a newsflash on a ‘crackdown’ on super rich tax havens and non-payment?

When the show 'Benefits Street' was produced, a poll showed that the public thought 41% of the welfare budget went to people who were unemployed; the real figure was 2.3%. Politicians and journalists don't just respond to public opinion — they actively shape it.

We need wealth redistribution. And we also need talent redistribution. In fact, the two are intimately connected. Research by three top economists: higher taxes (for the rich) would get more people to do work that’s actually useful.
