Improving rate coding & recruitment is prerequisite to strength improvements. Speed/power before strength/fitness in rehab. Telling your athlete you'll let them do fast stuff once they're well is like telling a starving man that he can eat once he is no longer hungry.

Mike Whiteman HoundsSpeed + responding to the soccer training conundrum: 99% of soccer is done ⬇️ 50% of max speed, players walk and jog NINE miles in a game, and max speed never happens (all acceleration). However, the best soccer players are super fast and explosive! ❓❓❓

Traditional training methods...(the staple of so many programs) have become my least favorite modalities for athletes... and myself TBH. Do they have value?, yes. But experience and education has revealed to me better methods. Holler-Korfist TFC #chasinggrowth

Tony Holler Gerry DeFilippo I would go as far as saying that conditioning for baseball is the dumbest thing in strength and conditioning. Are we preparing for that moment you hit 5 triples in 5 minutes? Perhaps you will run a lap around the stadium before you go to the plate?

Strength Coach Alpha Move: Talk about how certifications don’t mean anything but use as many letters in your bio and email signature as possible. You’re the Eagle Scout with all the badges at the Pinewood derby.

Was referred to as a 'Strength Coach' last night. That's such a bullshit, offensive name to what some of us are actually trying to do in the industry. More than getting kids to lift more weights and do Hip 90/90s. #chessnotcheckers

I actually don’t think 12 years old and younger athletes need to warm up at all in the traditional sense. I’ve never seen any youth athlete ever get hurt from not warming up. We get right into tag and that’s the warmup. Then into our work for the day.

Observe movement in these 3 populations (in addition to your typical athletes) to better understand the pure principles of motion and skill building 1. Children 2. Animals 3. “Freak” athletes Did we “invent” music, or simply discover the natural laws and arrange them?

Hundreds of Genres Of Music - Art and Movies 1 “correct” way to train the body In Hip - Hop being unable to switch your flow up is a sign of your inability as a artist In S & C it’s a badge of honor

Train like the pros is a stupid concept. It's amazing how many coaches think the path to high performance is to just have kids do mini high performance training. They'll back up their work with research and verkoshansky but forget that P.E. started in Ancient Greece. #LTAD

Back in high school I took a summer job working construction. When I arrived for my 1st day the guy who hired me nearly fired me on the spot. Boom. Done. Why? Because of a life lesson I didn't know, that I now use to this day.... Let me tell you about Big Jim: Big Jim was

We should spend more time guiding kids towards enjoying physical education, exploring movement/locomotion and becoming proficient in the gym. They are kids that play sports. Not Navy SEALS, not powerlifters and not mini-professionals.
