Four years since the stolen election in Belarus. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya continues the battle for freedom and we continue to support her. Democracies can win everywhere if we support democracies anywhere.
It's 100 years since Lithuania and Romania established diplomatic relations. I spoke with FM Luminita Odobescu about our continuing work to strengthen partnerships between democracies, Ukraine and Baltic Air Policing being perfect examples. 🇱🇹❤️🇷🇴
Today visiting the Lithuania-Belarus border to meet my Latvian counterpart Baiba Braže and discuss further cooperation on strengthening the external borders of the EU. We are well aware of the threat that Belarus and Russia pose to their neighbours, and to all of Europe.
As I told The Kyiv Independent, there wasn't a single surprised person in the Baltics. We were shocked by the ferocity of the invasion, but not surprised. kyivindependent.com/landsbergis/
And again we see basic rules of international law flouted, making the world a little less secure for all of us, eroding the authority of the Int'l Criminal Court. The red carpet for Putin in Mongolia marks a step backwards, but it's time for us to step up, not back.
How would I define Ukraine's victory? Ukraine safe and secure within its internationally recognised borders, part of EU and NATO. More from my interview with The Kyiv Independent.
I utterly condemn the attacks in Lviv and Kryvyi Rih, but words are not enough and we owe the people of Ukraine more. I appeal to all leaders to fully allow Ukrainians to defend themselves against these horrific attacks, with dignity and sovereignty, by any legal means necessary.
My dear friend Dmytro Kuleba set a very high benchmark not only for his successor, but for any foreign minister in any country. It was an honour to defend Ukraine and Europe with him, and I wish him every success in the future.
I am genuinely sad to see Tobias Billström leave politics. We had some great times working together and I will be missing his words of advice. I am sure he will dedicate himself to his next career as faithfully as he did to this one, and will have just as much success.
