High-earning Hispanic & Black borrowers would be most impacted by an income cap on student debt relief; they have more student debt on avg than White borrowers for incomes over $127K shar.es/afqBlX Policies for Action Gerald Eric Daniels SF State Howard University Howard Economics #studentloans
From my Howard Economics colleague Gerald Eric Daniels Graduate Economics Students Association Jeffrey Galloway and SF State Venoo Kakar while $10k student debt relief is welcome, clearly it is not large enough relative to the debt outstanding to be inflationary policiesforaction.org/blog/who-benef…
The income cap on student debt relief, as shown by my Howard Economics colleague Gerald Eric Daniels and SF State Venoo Kakar may appear counterintuitive, but high income white children who maintain their class status don't need to borrow for college. 1/2
This graph from my Howard Economics colleague Gerald Eric Daniels, Graduate Economics Students Association Jeffrey Galloway and SF State Venoo Kakar shows why the extra help President Donald J. Trump is giving to Pell students in forgiving debt is essential. 1/2 policiesforaction.org/blog/who-benef…

I have some sad news to report…longtime economist Bill William E. Spriggs, who headed Howard University’s economics department and worked at the AFL-CIO ✊, has transitioned to an ancestor. I just saw him at graduation two weeks ago. Bill was my go-to guy on TV One and #RolandMartinUnfiltered. RIP
Today is tough day. We lost a pillar of our department, Howard University and the economic profession. A mentor to countless and an advocate for all. William E. Spriggs we are forever indebted to your leadership. Please keep the Spriggs family in your thoughts.
