I read a bunch of Stăniloae last week (later volumes of Experience of God) & was reminded how powerfully insightful he was. The most dated, least useful bits are the casual contrasts w/'the west,' by which he almost always means fairly liberal academic theology now forgotten.

English translations of Augustine often say immutable where his Latin is incommutabilis, not immutabilis. Incommutable is in fact a fine English word meaning unchanging. But that sense is now rare, so incommutable today suggests only the more recent 2nd meaning, non-transferable.
