Did you lose your Woodwards Shopping Card along the Fraser River 50+ years ago? I Googled 838 Cambie Rd in Richmond, BC but couldnโ€™t find it. Probably an overpass or a high rise now.

The โ€œFraser River Junkyardโ€ is set alongside an intertidal erosion zone. At high tide this area is submerged but at low tide itโ€™s accessible. As the water recedes little tributaries, several inches deep, are created. All manners of yesteryear are then up for grabs. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’€

Ever heard of Stubby Quality soda? Itโ€™s not even in a โ€œstubbyโ€ bottle. Definitely, an old-timey brand from yesteryear. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’€

Ever heard of a vintage product called Prairie Maid Wheat Puffs? Definitely, old-timey as this Canadian product has a unit weight that is โ€œ25 pintsโ€ (50 cups). Still has a price stamp on it, as wellโ€ฆ 41 cents!

Plastics are a primary marine pollutant and a significant driver of the climate crisis. Plastics discarded in the environment release methane, ethylene, PFAS, and other toxic chemicals, which also interfere with the oceanโ€™s ability to store carbon. #WetTribe #TidetotheOcean

Finally back ashore after 28 years at the bottom of the sea - a Lego life raft from the Great Lego Spill of 1997. Collected yesterday from the crew of a fishing trawler who hauled it up in their nets some 20 miles offshore. One of 28,700 lost overboard from the Tokio Express.

About 80% of the plastic found in oceans originates from land-based sources, transported via rivers, coastlines, and runoff. #WetTribe #TidetotheOcean #CoastalCleanup #Planning #Pollution

Itโ€™s marked JAL (Japan Air Lines) w Made in Japan on the bottom. Some say sewing machine oil, others say mini view finder or salt shaker. It only has one hole so my guess is soy sauce? In the 3rd image are Air Canada S&P shakers. Did you fly in the 60โ€™s? What is this?

โ€œAnd while the levels are below what would require an immediate responseโ€ฆโ€ Why do environmental threat levels always have to be well into the red before options are discussed let alone taking preventative measures? ๐Ÿ’€๐ŸŸ

I wonder if a deposit system would help keep needles like this off the streets, out of the gutters and out of the worldโ€™s waterways. Imagine giving someone 10 or 25 cents for every one brought to some type of recycling depotโ€ฆ
