My thoughts are with the people of Puerto Rico as they are slammed with yet another hurricane, flooding, and power outages. This deserves national attention and help. Also, we need more determination to deal with the effects of climate change.

And the violence doesn’t even stop outside home country borders/waters. Forcibly displaced people are harmed and/or killed by militarized borders or the structural violence within resettlement countries all over the world (e.g., Southern U.S. and EU borders). It’s disgusting.

In 1960, JFK was 43 and Nixon 47! I’m not ageist, but this debate and the choice it represents between two feeble and broadly unpopular candidates is an indictment of a failed political culture and the two-party system.
